painting scopes..... full size.

hey oddjob007, I'm gonna have dinner.
it'll be 30minutes or so.
for other members, we are having a discussion about his scope.

well jin, Over spray is not a problem. I put on a base coat and no over spray has pentetrated the mask. There is one prblem with the camo. This scope needs to be ready to go for the hunt this weekend(friday). The forecast for Sunday is scattered showers, that means the sealer needs to be applied tommorow. The camo will have to wait for monday. Another thing is that the scope can not be taken off the gun, because it is already sighted in, I don't want to have to re-site it. This means the under side will have to wait for it's paint also on monday. Oh, and one last thing, I want a BIG turkey!!!

this question is for all the members.
does acrylic paint stick well to spraypaint clear coat?
the clearcoats gonna be shny and don't want that, whether it's flat clear or camo.
is acrylic waterproof?

are there any dials to the scope? like the sight adjusting thingy?

the sighting dial can be left black for now. Second coat is done. No overspray.I'm gonna cammo tonight as soon as the paint dries. The first coat dried quickly. I wonder if anbody else here does stuff like that.

get some silly putty for the camo

to late! the second coat was dry. Myu Dad wanted to paint some of the camo. He kneeds help. My airbrush doesn't seem to like testors paint but is in love with model master acrylics. The camo is drying right now. Seems fine. Just have to put on light brown tommorow, let it dry,and in the evening, aplly the clear coat. By two o'clock friday it should be ready to take my turkey. I am using silly putty and it is working well. wh doesn't anybody else join this painting pheneminon.

make sure the first clear coat is an enamel clear, which you don't have! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
and I'm not allowed to bring spray bottles to school

well this is a little late... but yes.. paint will apply over clear coat.. but if it is acrylic I recommend clear coating it again after the second coat to protect it too... final touch can be the dull coat..

might want to stuff some tissue inside the lens cap to make sure no bleed under gets near the glass pieces... I am sure it is ok but just to make sure...

hey ud prob be better of using an enamel clear coat for the last coat as these dry harder and are less likley to rub off....

Hey the scope worked fine. The Jake came in at full strut and was walking on a ridge. After 20 minutes I took the shot. The turkey died and now I have a shell stuffed with feathers and some yummy turkey!

you stuffed feather in the shell?

Ya. It makes a pretty gound trophy saying any part of the turkey that meat couldn't come off is degrating in the woods
