oh yeah for a natural metal finish aircraft (silver/chrome etc..) the dark grey works good, but dont use it as dark as with opaque paints, it tends to look a bit overdone.. thin it mor than you would for regular washes...

here's a good article on washes in general, maybe it might have something in there for ya:

usually several shades darker than the original color works well...

or for panel lines you can use burnt umber for brown, green and desert sand base coats and paynes grey or a dark grey for blue, black, grey etc....

First off....Welcome!

I usually use burnt umber ( got it at Wal-Mart ). Mix it with about 90% water and a drop of dish soap. I don't know about planes ( I build armor ) but I think it would be the same for both. Just apply with a brush and your done!

I am sure someone else will be able to tell you what to use to airplanes.

Good luck!

I NEED HELP (I'm color blind)

Hi everyone, I'm a new model builder and I was hoping that someone may be able to show me a guide for making wash colors. For instance; if the plane is olive drab, what color should I make the wash color? If anyone can help me I would be grateful. I really want to make my models look nice.
