Humbrol no.1 primer/thinner
Posted by osher on Saturday, April 23, 2005 12:11 PM
I want to airbrush my Humbrol no.1 enamel primer. I've never used primer before. How much, if any, do I thin primer? Thanks!

Osher - not sure about Humbrol but the brands I have used (acrylic and lacquer) didn't need thinning. It would depend on what base Humbrol uses in its primers... if nothing else you could try a tad of lacquer thinner with it on spare sprue to see how it works. I know MM which I usually use is acrylic so I use Tamiya thinner...

Good idea Tom: just try it out! I suppose I should have thought of that first!!!! Hmm, I'll experiment and see what works best.

osher, I've used a couple of tins of it and found for me it sprayed well at around 50/50 with Humbrols own thinner. Hope that helps, like Tom said, just experiment on some spru and you'll find what works for you.

Cheers...Snowy

I mix it 50/50 with lacquer thinners and it works just fine.

I'll give it a shot tonight, and see how I get on. 50/50 with Humbrol thinner? No problem! Thanks everyone
