I would think that it would be close, at least as far as the paint and airbrush are concerned. I assume you were wanting distilled water for thinning acrylics, distilled water has no mineral in it, so you don't get a mineral build-up on an appliance the you are using it in. If your Walmart water had its minerals removed by some process other than distilling, it seems like it still would be good at preventing mineral build-up.
