Microscale Micro Flat Drying glossy???
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, May 7, 2005 7:38 PM
hell all...
ive sprayed my current build woth this stuff hoping to give it a flat finish, but to my dismay, its dried glossy... not full gloss, but kind of a semi gloss..after the first coat i though it may have looked that way from the light coat, but after the 2nd one its definantly gloss! i thinned it with tamiya acrly thinner...
has this ever happened to anyone?
do u think that its the thinner?
would i b able to add some tamiya flat base t it to make it flat?

cheers!!

It could be a few things. Did you stir the bottle really well? It needs a thourough stirring to get the full flatness out of it. Tamiya thinner can give paints a more glossy appearance. Try thinning it with tap or distilled water (You could add a drop of dishwashing liquid to it to make it flow better). Don't know about the flat base, try experimenting with it.

hope this helps.

I've had flat enamels do that to me when I thinned them just a tad too much.. I imagine the same would happen with acryls. the only other thing I could think of is what Pingy mentioned... did you stir them thoroughly? I've had some Tamiya acrylics that have done that for a reason I don't know. it was either stirring or a odd paint batch.
