Bad paint finish

Welcome to the forums. Even though i'm not really a rep or anything. Sounds like the paint is drying in mid-air before it hits the model. How far away is the AB from the surface when you paint? You'll get alot of ideas of how to fix this if this is the problem. Simplest fix is to cut the paint/thinner with a little distilled water. It's not really a retarder but it will cause the paint to not dry so fast.

i am using AB about 3 inches from surface,thought it might be thinning ratio or air pressure ,would turning pressure down help

I would try thinning the paint a little more, if that doesnt help try lowering the air pressure. It may be paint spatter due to too much air pressure a too close of a distance

thanks for avdvice .Have stripped model down for a third time and have made adjustments of thinning paint more and backed air pressure right down to less tan 5psi according to my regulator .This time all is well.Understanding the cause was key in working out this problem.Will try light coat of thinners if it happens again. try briniging the airbrush cvloser to the subject when painting.... that helped me!!

You shouldn't have to drop your pressure as low as 5psi (unless your regulator gauge is out). 15psi should be fine. The paint is drying in mid air, it just sounds like you need to get closer and lay the paint on a little wetter. Your thinning ratio sounds pretty good too. I used to get this problem around the wing roots of aircraft and other areas where the paint can get swirled around on it's way to the model. It sounds like you have it figured out now, good luck.
