hey check out the latest issue of TMMI, it has a whole section on how to re create a burntout, destroyed t55 tank... and it lookes awesome!!
the author used lotsa artists oils,mig powders and turps to get the desired effect...
for ur dio i think this article would prove invaluable....

I'm intending to build an OEF diorama. For an abandoned RG T-72 I've noticed that Iraqi desert paint schemes are usually seen flaking off randomly revealing the original Russian tank green underneath. My question is, what would be a good method to replicate this flQuestion [?]aking off effect? I await your response(s) Ed Davis
