Ever sneak into the neighbor's pool at 2AM? Try sneaking into the model shop at 2AM and firin' that bad boy up! Tongue [:P]

I'm all for mastering the brush before you move on to the gun. The more skills you develop as a modeler, the better.

Why? They have virtually nothing in common except for the fact that you hold both of them in your hand. Clown [:o)]

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. " Charles Spurgeon

Show Dad you're willing to learn the techniques of regular brushing. Get a couple of decent brushes, practice smooth, even strokes on scrap pieces or sheet styrene, and you'll soon get good at it. Heck, you'll get the hang of it in one afternoon, probably.
Use patience, go slow, don't keep brushing over the same part while it's wet, and don't use too much paint.
You'll get it right soon enough. then, grab that airbrush and practice with it until you have the knack. Won't take long, maybe an hour or so to get the basic hang of it.
