Pat are you referring to a crown cap that you can buy as an optional extra on the Iwata? If so they are a little 'kings crown' shaped piece that replaces the standard nozzle cap. The shape is said to improve the airflow around the nozzle by allowing it to escape out the gaps in the crown. This is supposed to improve performance reduce paint build up on the nozzle. Does it work, I have no idea, but I own one and use it every day.

If it's the nozzle cap that you're talking about, that's a piece that comes on all Iwata air brushes and attaches to the Head Cap onto which attaches the needle cap which protects your needle from damage.
