If you look at Swanny's tutorial on using Alclad II....

http://www.swannysmodels.com/Alclad.html

...he masks his canopies, then primes them with the same primer he uses for the rest of the mode, Krylon gloss black. This ensures that the canopy frames match the rest of the model.

Also, Swanny specifically points out that he has never had Alclad lift when using masking tape when he's used the proper primer; with the Krylon gloss black primer, this is not a problem. It can be a problem with acrylic primers.

I have yet to go wrong by following Swanny's advice.

I've done it without any problems. Just give the Future plenty of time to dry - at least 48 hours. If possible, don't mask the Alclad with tape, afterwards, as it may come off as the bond isn't as strong as with primer.

I have had great luck using Future as a base for Alclad (regular shades) . The Alclad does not eat through the Future so no problem there. I like to let Future cure for at least 48 hrs.

Pat - check out this from Alclad's site:

http://www.alclad2.com/alclad-home.html

click on the button that says "Application" .. not only will it give you good hints for good finishes but I learned a lot from the what primer to use section (which Future is one of them and in fact the recommended one for the regular aluminum type finishes)

Hmm, I don't know. It really seems like it might be easier to use bare metal foil on the canopy frames though, and I know you can use that over Future.

.. can you spray alclad aluminum over Future?

What im doing is dipping my canopy in the future, then I want to spray the frames w/ Alclad aluminum.
