I like to keep at a project and just make a choice right then. But most of the time i plan out how the model is going to be before hand.

Patience is indeed one of the greatest assets a modeller can have. I try to keep a good supply handy all the time (and yes having more than one on the go project helps as well, as does working 65 hours a week - no choice but to leave things for days at a time).

Well, I fully understand your problem... I did the same at least 3 times (weak learning curve :)
I have found that it is epecially true with tamiya clear. It is not tacky and looks fully cured but if masking begins in less than 2-3 days after coating - it leaves ugly marks. Not at once but leaving masking for hour or two may couse damages.

Some colors seem to be more resistant and after 1 1/2 days masking is safe

I have tried to remove that without sanding but no effect achieved...

May patience be with you!

I feel your pain man. I've screwed up paint jobs by rushing them myself.

Well,

I've done it again despite knowing how important it is to allow proper drying times between coats of paint, I not only tried to work on an uncured paint surface by painting a second color, but I also masked the model as well.

After an intricate masking scheme, I removed the tape from the surface to reveal marks left on the surface where the tape was located...

It can't be stressed more how important it is to leave models alone for a good day or two before working with the painted surfaces...Although the model might be dry to the touch, it's not always ready for second coats, decals, or other treatments...

I guess that's why it's good to have other projects ready during drying times...

Humm...now I guess i'll have to sand down the areas where the tape seemed to mar the surface...hope that will work..

Take care for now,
Doug
