Spraying Mr Surfacer
Posted by Bandha Boy on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 3:56 AM
Can someone tell me how to thin this stuff? I've seen a number of reports where the authors rave about Mr Surfacer 1000 or 1200 as an airbrushed primer but it doesn't seem to 'blend' with any thinner I've used. I'm not brave enough to stuff it down my airbrush until I see it looking more like liquid than putty.

Swanny has an article on using it on his web site at:
http://www.swannysmodels.com/Surfacer.html

He states near the bottom that he uses laquer thinner.

Thanks guys. Mr. Thinner didn't work for me (I thought this was an acrylic thinner?) but I haven't tried laquer thinner which seems to be the go according to Swanny. Curious about his comments on Metho. On Oz we can't get a lot of the products discussed in magazines etc (eg Future) but Metho is available in every corner store here. Can it be used as a laquer thinner? I'm afrain my alcohol chemistry is a bit lacking.
