future/ aztec airbrush
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, June 9, 2005 8:39 PM
today was the first time i've ever tried to gloss coat with my airbrush. i'm using future and an aztec a470..whatever, double-action. i had the gray nozzle in. i noticed i was getting a less than glossy finish. it was more of a dusty gloss finish. i tried applying more paint through the airbrush, but i think i got dangerously close to having it run. i'm hoping that one of you aztec owners out there can help me. and i mean with everything, from pressure at the pump, to what nozzle, and distance from the model, how many coats, and anything else that i don't know about!

phil - Future does that, especailly over a dull coat... just spray it on kinda light, let it dry. Then give one or two more medium coats letting them dry in between. No matter how much you spray on, it won't come out gloss on the first coat in my experience...

Just let it sit an hour or more in between coats and when done then let it dry 24-48 hours afterwards before decaling or weathering...

oh yeah I spray at about 25psi with no thinning of the future.

---edit----

which nozzle is the grey nozzle again? I havent used an aztec for quite some time... use the one for general coverage, I forget which color that was...

I can't speak about Future with an Aztek, because my Aztek was apparently dead when I tried to spray Future with it. With other airbrushes, it always sprays about the same, which means that I don't get a real deep gloss finish until I've laid down two or three coats.
