I use Tamiya acrylic thinner too. If you buy the big bottle, it will last for a long time. If you want to use water, try adding a drop of dish washing detergent to it. That will break the surface tension of the water and make it flow a bit better.

Hikarus, Gunze is my acrylic of choice, and I use them for practically all my painting. Like you I have found these to be about the best acrylics, both in terms of the paint quality itself, and the range of colours available.

As for thinning, just use Tamiya acrylic thinner at a 50/50 ratio. You can use water, but it doesn't have the retarder that the Tamiya thinner contains, and thus you are more likely to encounter tip dry while spraying.

Gunze Sangyo Paints

Hi, I've been primarily using Tamiya and MM Acryl acrylics and I use their own brand of acrylic paint thinner. I've recenelty used Gunze Sangyo acrylics paints and found them better - IMO - than Tamiya and MM. I've noticed on the bottles and from this forum that some ppl use plain old water to thinner Gunze Sangyo paints. So does this mean I really can use water to thin them instead of buying their thinner? Thanks.
