2 Qusetions regarding Iwata ?
Posted by plane mad on Sunday, June 19, 2005 3:53 PM

Hi Guys ! I was wondering if an Iwata airbrush hose would fit on my Revell omega compressor ? I dont know what the connection size is but it looks to be standard and it fits with an Atzek hose if thats any help .

and my second question : I'm about to get an Iwata hp-cs and i was wondering if i should go for the hp -sbs version that has the option of using a side cup or a bottom feed. Would the hp-cs with a top mounted cup be better for spraying fine detail than a hp-sbs with the side feed gravity cup? I assume there should be little if no difference .

Thanks for your time guys .....peter.

I don't use an Iwata so I can only speak in general terms. My preference would be for the top-mounted gravity feed cup as it allows you to cut your pressure back considerably to get finer detail, though I'm not sure it would make a huge difference between the ABs you listed. Also, I've found the bottom mount cup tends to get in the way in tight areas. Finally, the gravity feed cup is a lot easier to clean.

ditto from me. I use a bottom feed Badger 155 right now, but have a Iwata HP-CS in my future just for the fine detail and such you speak of. Between the two I would vote for the HP-CS.

I use an Omni 4000 and I love it, of course it's the first A/B I've ever owned.

The end that fits on the compressor is the same with all brands. The end that fits on the airbrush is different. I know Dixieart sells adapters for all the brands though if you really want to use your iwata hose with your badger brush or the other way around.

Amen to that, I would definitely opt for a gravity fed device, better efficiency, you can get into tight spots, etc. just one word of caution....reme,ber to put the cup lid back on....don't ask me how I know this.....regarding hoses, I found that any compressor supplier or art shop, are usually very helpful, I have a contraption that the owner of the compressor shop did for me to convert from the CO2 tank to the A470, with a couple of bucks.

Peter I've got an HP-CS after moving up from my old Aztek A470. I used my old Aztek coiled hose with the Iwata without any problems or attachments.
Oh yeah I could agree more with giobosco, they supply a lid, use it.

Cheers
