Bare Metal Foil as a mask
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, June 23, 2005 4:21 PM
Purchased a sheet of Bare Metal Foil the other day with intentions of using it to mask a canopy. The instructions inside the pack recommended that only "original" Bare Metal Foil be used as a mask. The sheet I purchased is Matte Aluminum. What is "original"?

Does anyone have any experience using BMF this way? Would be thankful for any help.

I'm not sure but I think "original" is thicker therefore less prone to tearing. I don't build planes often but when I do I also have a pack of BMF that I use to mask the canopies. I don't think it matters but the pack I have is chrome silver. Works great everytime.

swfong what they are referring to is the use of cheap Chocolate foil instead of brand name Bare Metal Foil. In the BMF range they do not have a product called original BMF.
