I have used Future to seal metalzer. Spray it on as a fine mist coat and let dry. Apply a second light coat and it will not change the texture or color. If you apply in heavy coats it will change the color and texture of the NMF.

What do you use to seal the metalizer? Would future work ok for that, it doesn't seem like it would dull the finish but I haven't tried it very much. The only metalizer I've used to date has been the gunmetal metalizer, for the inside of jet engine exhausts, but I'd like to make a bare metal finish mustang soon.

Wombat,
I've had no problems whatsoever painting Metalizer over enamels or acrylics - they dry so fast that they have no time to kill the paint they're going over........
And having said this...................ALWAYS experiment before you commit paint to your masterpiece.
The Metalizer is great stuff - it's easy to apply, looks fantastic - but it's very fragile unless you seal it - which can really dull the polished aluminum effect.
Good luck and I'd like to see the Connie when it's dons.

Metalizer and paint

Hey there-

My IPMS chapter is doing a rush build of civil aircraft for an air show in five weeks. I've landed the box scale Monogram Super G Constellation in box scale. Its builds up pretty nice, save for a few raised rivet done in during seam elimination.

Now the question. I want to use Enamels and Metalizer for the white and silver (aluminum) finish. Can I paint the Metalizer over the enamels? Or should I VERY carefully mask them and not overlay them?
