Flat finish white spots
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, July 11, 2005 10:19 PM
I hope this is the right forum to post this question.

Yesterday I sprayed a coat of Pollys flat finish on top of Future acrylic. In some parts of my model there are some sort of whitish spots. Do you know how can I removed without damaging the entire model. I htought the probably with spirit thinner or turpentine but not sure.

Any hint?

Thanks

Right forum for the question.

How long have you let the stuff dry? I thought I read a post recently where someone suggested that a heavy coat might take a dya or two to fully dry, remaining somewhat milky until it has.

If you do definitely have to remove it, is Pollys flat acrylic? If so, try some alchol. I've used alcohol remove Future after drying. If that fails, may windex. I'm thinking that something like turpentine might be rather drastic and clobber your whole paint job (I mad a wash with it only to have it start lifting the paint underneath), so I'm thinking you want to start with the lightest stuff first.

I agree with Andy. I'd start light and then work up to heavier solvents otherwise you will probably ruin the underlying paint. Anything that will dissolve Polly Scale acrylic will also dissolve Future which is also an acrylic. I doubt that it will work, but I'd try a Q-Tip moistened with just water first. If that doesn't work try Windex or alcohol but be VERY careful! Don't rub hard or long or use a lot of solvent.

Thank you gentlemen I will try your recommendations and hopefully the acrylic Pollys finish is not fully cured.
