New Fine Tip Problems!

Fine tips don't always work. The paint pigment is sometmes just too big to go through the gap between needle and nozzle. The paint is plugging the nozzle allowing air to blow back into the bottle. Thin the paint some more and reduce the pressure and that should help.

the paint is buffering metalizer. Should I still thin it?

Typically, no. Metallizers are ususally thin enough, but the particles are quite large which is most likely what is causing your problem. Lower the pressure a few psi. This will allow you to screw the needle back more to get the same volume of paint flow which will, in turn, open the nozzle up a little bit more.

I tried reducing to 10 psi, but it still doesn't work. I have the needle almost all the way back.

I posted recently on just this topic whilst trying to spray Humbrol Gold through the medium tip of my 200. The mother of all clogs was the result. The pigment as Music City has said is just too big and I wouldn't be surprised that if you remove the tip you will find it clogged with that pigment. Just don't do what I did and damage the brush trying to get the tip off! If you have the heavy tip needle combo that could be OK. I substituted the Humbrol (very old) with Model Master (new) and this sprayed satisfactorily but not as reliably as a non metallic.

Nothing is clogged from what I can see and it still doesn't work.
