                        Hello All!

                        I've had a problem with overspray since I've started using an airbrush. I have a Badger 150 and have been using the medium tip. In spraying the top color on my aircraft, there is a good bit of overspray onto the bottom fuselage color. Is there a technique to avoid this? I was using about 10 psi when spraying the top color. Do I need to move the tip closer or angle it one way or the other? I tried this on a test model but can't really see any difference. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

                        You can never completely eliminate overspray. That's just a fact of life; there *IS* going to be a certain amount of overspray. You can limit it by using lower pressure (although 10 psi should be low enough). Spraying closer and angling the airbrush, as you mentioned, will also help. I use wide strips of plastic trash bags and temporarily tape them over areas that are prone to get overspray on it. When I'm done I stuff them in a box until I need them again.

                        mask off any area that you arent painting or blending? roughly anyway.

                        Angling does help but turbulence will be generated at the edge and swirl the paint aerosol back onto the undersurface. Masking is really the only way to go.
