Need some help with...
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 8:51 AM
Need some help with the thinning of Tamiya paints. I have a new airbrush and want to thin the paints properly to get a good finish on my "fraternal twins" that I have been working on for about 3 months now. I am using Tamiya acrylics and have the Tamiya thinner. I need the ratio for thinning. I had it somewhere and misplaced it. (Getting old is not that great....)

Thanks in advance,

Kurt

There is no such thing as a cut-and-dried thinning ratio that works all the time. It will vary with pressure, distance from the surface, airbrush construction, painting technique, and the actual bottle of paint in use (older paint that has thickened will need to be thinned more). Try about 3:1 and then vary as necessary from there.
