I have the reamer, and it's kind of handy to get out stubborn dried paint but you have to be careful or a medium becomes a large real quick.

I used needle-nose pliers on mine. The tip on my 200 (same head as the 100) backed out and hit the floor. Took me a half hour to find it. I can't remember if there are flats on the side or not, but I don't think there are. I just held it with the pliers and screwed it back in and it's been fine for a long time now. The worst thing is that it is so TINY!

Thanks guys--

Yeah I saw something in the manual about using a "3 cornered reamer" to push the old tip out-- it seems to be something that Badger also sells, but #1 I don't want to spend $ on stuff like that if small pliers as you guys mentioned will work...and #2- even if I did want to spend the $ on it, I can't see any reference to it at all on their website....I have a small machinist set of pliers that will probably work well-- thanks!

haha no prob Craig.. yours had a little more detail in it than mine... not having messed with a 100 I was assuming (and what happens when I assume??? Wink [;)]) it would be somewhat similar than my 155 and 175...

but as far as beeswax (and not suggesting anyone mind their own) I have seen it at Michaels sold for some other craft activity... so if it leaks you can get more!!

Look at this page: http://www.badgerairbrush.com/100lgparts.htm

If you got the entire head assembly, part no. 50-0162, the whole head unscrews from the body. If you just got the tip itself, part no. 50-0392, it unscrews from the head itself. Be aware that it is very, very, VERY tiny (it makes some PE parts look HUGE!) and is easily dropped and lost (ask me how I know!). According to Badger the factory seals the tips with beeswax, however I have had mine out and back in without sealing them. The only thing is that they occasionally tend to back out of the head. Some simple candle wax might work just about as well for a sealer, but I haven't tried that.

Edit ... Sorry Tom, you beat my post by 6 seconds Tongue [:P]

Mike - if it is like the other Badgers I have used the tip should just pull out of the body. I have had to use a very small set of pliers once with the jaws wrapped in masking tape to get it out but after that it comes out on its own. (--edit-- just pull straight out, might require a bit of a twist to loosen it)

and yeah, just push in the medium, put the crown cap on and then push the needle through and you are set!!! I actually had to use the pliers on the head (crown cap) as well the first time I took it off... as long as you dont use too much pressure and as long as they are protected from marring the metal you should be ok...

Not sure if MikeV or someone similar can help me on this-- but here it is-- basically I bought myself this airbrush right after Christmas from Dixieart...ordered the Medium....and never really thought anything more of it.... lately I have been having a lot of trouble with it though-- I am attempting more fine detail work and that's why I have noticed it more I guess.

Long story short-- I finally "looked" at my case and saw that they made a mistake and sent me the Fine instead. Obviously- there is nothing I could really do about it now 6 months later-- so I called and ordered the Medium needle, tip, and crown cap.

Here is my situation though-- how do I install the tip?? Does the Fine tip unscrew from the head and then I just plug in the Medium?? Any help you could give me would be much appreciated!
