Heres my booth, still half way through being built. Going to add LEDS in there for light, all connected to a AT PSU...

It's paint spray that has dried on the way out, I'll need a stiff brush to clean the fan

How do you deal with overspray, wing_nut? Or do the fans suck it out ?

Hi David, nice to meet a fellow Texan. I am a proffesional scrounger,LOL, really!! Go to junkyard? Convince a neighbor they don't need theirs? Tell ur family ur going to work on urs, "just need to put it on this box to test it out!", Big Smile [:D] Don't mind me, heh-heh, I just like to joke around, I love humor, especially dry humor that's sometimes hard to get. Anyhoo, back to business, all the stuff u see is pretty much trash, the table is an old door, the shelves were in the trash, I just sanded 'em down, used some old stain and varnish found in the garage. Got to make a better paint brush holder though. The hair dryer is 4 drying paint faster but I hold it 'bout 2 ft. away so no dmg, Flat paint dries fast so I can keep on working 'stead of waitin'. Mostly I use it to make "battle dmg". r u able to see the bent fenders on the Tiguh I?? works great!! Just got to time it right! I've only just started building models (done 3 3/4 models), but... done a ton of research, I know alot about it, just need to apply it! O, speakin' of scrounging, Do u see the grill covers on the Tiguh? cheap ol' Bill ain't payin' mega bucks on PE, no sirree!, LOL, it is made out of sanding screen 4 sanding mud on sheetrock, Cost="bout 10cents. Won't win any IPMS awards but I,m not good enuff 4 that Neway.Sigh [sigh] Sry, I tend to talk alot.Taped Shut [XX]

William, that's a great idea to use a vent hood. I tried to find one, but I was unsuccessfull (didn't try too hard, but..). I looked at new ones, but the good ones were just as or more expensive than the blower I bought. I like your workbench. I'm going to have to install some shelfs in my closet. I like the little shelf for all your paint. I hate having to dig around searching for the right one. Having them all in a row would be nice. What do you use the hair dryer for?

Hey every1, ya'll got some nice stuff!!Bow [bow] 'bout all I can say of mine is that it cost=$0.00 Ha-Ha, check this out, the fan is from my mom's old stove, 2-speed fan, very powerful, sucks ALL the paint material out (and fumes), the geen thing is a bathroom trash can to connect the hose (leftover dryer vent hose) to the fan, wish I had a shorter item (4 asthetic looks) but the hose is diff size than fan housing so had to have a adapter, the green duct tape just makes it airtight. The plywood is leftover from a building project. I use a/c filters, I just scoot it over when a portion is used up. The booth is kinda big (2ft. square) but..as the picture shows I can do 1/350 ships in there Cool [8D]. Could even do a sailing ship in there. just click on "my workstaion" if u care to take a look.

Like Vapo, I started with a cardboard box, although since it was in the garage, I didn't bother with venting. Then after 1) buying a Badger compressor that didn't have an on/off switch and 2) disamantling a closet ogranizer from one of my wife's closets, and 3) listening to many complaints of the paint smell, I conceived of the rig shown below.

I gave it a lot of light with three 18" flouroescent lights. Ventilation is from a bathroom exhaust fan that routes outside via a dryer duct. The compressor on/off switch issue is taken care of with a switched outlet. Since I recycle cleaning thinner, letting dirty thinner settle and decanting the clear portion into a clean jar, I gave myself storage room on the side for three jars of cleaning thinner. My wife used to complain about the smell of the enamle thinner, so I store my Badger AB, Aztek cleaning station, and anything else that might pick up thinner smell in the big RubberMaid containers. Since I use the Paasche H for acrylics, I can leave it out all the time.

mine looks like i bought it from someone that makes them for a living -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8207147625&category=28111&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1

if ya got the scrills - why wouldn't ya? And i plan on having a lot more kids (don't tell the Mrs. - it's a surprise) so don't want those fumes messing with 'the boys down there'...looks good, works great, solid. my grandkids could use this booth someday...

Here's my booth:

It's an Artograph 1520 with metal hood. The cabinet underneath is from Lowes, and is where I keep most of my stash and building supplies.

The pins placed in the top of the cabinet doors help secure a piece of shelf (part of which is peeking out from behind the booth), which serves as a work area while painting. The compressor can (or at least used to) fit on the bottom shelf, but I've gotten lazy, so now it remains as shown.

Right now, I don't vent outside (not the ideal situation, but there are filters underneath that pick up most of the odors and particles... I've got a backsplash to prevent the exhaust from being shot straight at the wall, and I haven't observed any discoloration of it).

Mine looks just like Vapo's, except I don't have a fan, or ducting, or a clever hook to hang my AB on. On nice days it's outside on my backyard deck. On bad days I don't paint. Big Smile [:D]

I dream of the day when I can have a basement for painting like Scott (my mom-in-law lives downstairs, weep for me). My workbench looks just like a kitchen table, when it's not a workbench. Which is FAR too often for my liking. Why do we need to eat three times a day anyway? Tongue [:P]

So long folks!

Clearly mine is of a "temporary" nature, if this modeling bug bites, it may have to be exchanged for something a little more .....robust.

yep, high flow(though of course not spray booth high!" 120mm PC fan.
It's pretty crude and not as good as it could or possibly should be, but it has so far kept fumes pretty mush under control

What does your spraybooth look like?

I about to finish building my first real spraybooth hopefully this afternoon. I think it will work alright. I'm using this guys design (http://www.briansmodelcars.com/tutorials/tutorial.asp?TutorialID=23&CurPage=1) along with a Dayton shade pole blower slightly smaller than the one he lists at the bottom of the site. I think it will still work quite well though. I'll post some pics as soon as I'm done.

I was hoping you all that have spray booths could post a picture of it. Just curious what everyone has and how you like yours.
