Badger 155 Anthem which spare parts to keep in stock.
Posted by derekms on Sunday, August 7, 2005 2:41 PM
I am planning on replacing my badger 350 with a badger 155 anthem airbrush in the near future. Since no store/hobby shop near me carries spare parts for this type of airbrush I was wondering which parts should I order as spares for the Badger 155 Anthem airbrush?

I believe a spare needle is a must but any other parts such as springs which need replaced after time?

Thanks

I'd get 2 or 3 needles. At about $5.00 each it's cheaper just to get a few so you have to order less often if one bends. Another spray tip would be good too. (the piece that is still stuck in the body when you take the head off. I am always slmost losing it, luckily so far no... but I have a source close to me... it would be worth your while JUST IN case to get one. (I think on www.dixieart.com they sell them as a set if I am not mistaken)

One more thing which is not a part but really helps is needle lube. It helps keep paint from adhering to the needle changing the airflow pattern and therefore the way paint sprays out. It also makes it easier to clean the needle. It's also about $5.00

Here's a parts view of the 155... there really a lot to get broken or bent.. just the needle for the most part... the spray tip I was talking about is part # 41-004

I consider "first aid" as follows :
_one nozzle assembly
_two needles matching the nozzle
_ a set of washers.
It should help you in case of emergency. If you happen to damage something else in your airbrush, which should be very rare, there is a possiblity you would need help from a professional craftsman. The above mentioned items are things you can change yourself ( note that certain washers need a special tool to be set in place inside the airbrush ). And always keep in mind that an airbrush is much more fragile than a hammer, so easy with disassemble/assemble the beast.

Thank you all for coming José

Derek - another good recommendation from Torio. You're in luck though because the 155 doesn't have any washers... everything is self contained on it! Let us know how you like it once you get it!

There is no washer in this airbrush, woua, no tricky reassembling ? it's no use then to own one of these, if you never awake in the middle of the night "how am I going to put this ##??@@ thing back in this ##@@§§ airbrush ?"
Now seriously, airbrush maintenance is VERY easy and needs a light hand and care; let's say that airbrushes are like girls, give them roses, don't beat them with roses.

oh sure... where were you with this advice when I was 17 and just dating?? Wink [;)]

yeah, the 155 is like an anti-airbrush... not many parts, none that don't actually screw in (except the spray tip) and it takes apart and cleans in about 2 or 3 minutes!!! It makes me feel guilty when I read the horror of losing a seal or washer... (ok it really doesnt Wink [;)])

Tom, did you ever switch to an Iwata as your main brush? I know Tanky did after the Nats and now he swears by the Eclipse. As I've said before, I'm thinking Eclipse by Xmas but the Badgers are so easy to work on and clean, so I may just get a 100LG.

PS - I feel a 1/32 scale F-16 and Anthem session in my near future! Let's see, work out or airbrush, ummm.......

Elliott - I am planning the switch... just when I think "now is the time" something else in the house breaks... just a few minutes ago my wife called me into the bathroom to report the tub was leaking from under the edge.. Disapprove [V]

I really do want that HP-CS but it's a matter of when it is financially convenient... I'll let you know when I do get it.. I also thought about the 100LG but think I want to switch over tot he IWata as the people who have them swear by them... if it isn't the brush for me I can sell it and use the cash to buy the 100LG Big Smile [:D]

I can't find the needle lube at dixieart.com could anyone link it? thanx! also I already have my airbrush so if anyone would be cheaper to buy parts from then dixie, it would be helpful, they have a 10$ handling fee for orders under 45$, which is pretty steep.

Jadormdrache -

on dixieart's website it is at the bottom of the badger airbrush page. Needle Lubricant and it is 3.35, you could offset shipping costs by getting an extra needle or two and anything else you might think you could use in the future.

www.greatmodels.com has Medea Super Lube and it is 3.35, minimum shipping is about $6.50 on there. Again this could be offset by buying a kit or paints and such things to offset shipping... just do a search for 'medea' there, the badger version can be found by typing 'regdab' in the search box... (minus the qoutes)

Dixie art is where I plan on ordering the airbrush. And this is why I wanted to know which parts to keep as spares to hopefully minimize the shipping cost on replacement parts by order the parts with the airbrush.

Thanks for you help eveyoneBig Smile [:D]

Greetings everyone. I apologize for piggy-backing off of this thread, but I felt 'Twas better to do that then to start a new one especially since my question is about an Anthem 155 AB as well.

You see I just received a new 155 as payment for some work I did for a friend. He had it and never used it.

I’m only beginning to get back into modeling after a couple decades of being away. Along with the inexperience that has compiled over the years all of my airbrushing skills have gone kaput as well.

The 155 seems a bit daunting as an airbrush to use to build my skills back up, but hey, the price was right.

My question is this: Does the 155 have additional tips, parts or the like that help you deliver a finer line or is everything self-contained and is a result of the proper technique, paint mix, and air pressure?

Regards,
Paul

Paul,
Everything is "self contained" in the 155. Technique, paint mix and air pressure are the keys.
