From Tamiya web site:

QUOTE: These cans of spray paint are extremely useful for painting large surfaces. The paint is a synthetic lacquer that cures in a short period of time. Each can contains 100ml of paint, which is enough to fully cover 2 or 3, 1/24 scale sized car bodies. Tamiya spray paints are not affected by acrylic or enamel paints. Therefore, following the painting of the entire assembly, details can be added or picked out using enamel and/or acrylic paints. By combining three different paints, the decoration of plastic models will become simpler and more effective.

I use them for cars only, the colours aren't suitable for other models. Properly applied they end up with a very nice gloss finish, without any of the dreaded orange peel enamels can give you.

Chances are the X or XF series WON'T match the TS series. You'll want to find the AS series for cross over colours.

So long folks!

Tamiya TS-3 vs. XF-60

What are Tamiya TS spray paints?!? All I've been able to find is that they are a synthetic laquer. Does that assume a gloss finish?

I was thinking of using TS-3 as a base coat and then doing shadows/highlights/touchup with XF-60 with the airbrush and/or hand brush...but I wonder if the color will match. TS-3 and XF-60 are both called "Dark Yellow".

I tried asking Tamiya. That was a week ago...no answer....

PS, before anyone says "why not just airbrush your XF-60 as the basecoat", I use canned air so if I can use a spray paint for base its cheaper and easier. Smile [:)]
