Thanks much, Ray. Maybe I'll revisit the Bare Metal Foil option. Still mulling over it, but I'll sure check back in and report on the results

One thing you might try is some SnJ-type polishing powder. I just started experimenting for a model that I want to use it on and it looks fantastic. What you do is spray a basecoat and let it dry for an hour or two (enamels), I'm not sure how long for acrylics, and then just take a Q-Tip or something like that and rub this powder into the paint. You can buff it to a nice shine and once the paint dries completely it doesn't even need to be sealed. That's the only suggestion that I can think of right now, although if it was me, I'd try Bare-Metal Foil.

Good luck and make sure you let us know how you solved this problem.

Alclad or similar over acrylic?

Okay, if the subject line didn't provide some hint at the bone-headed mistake I've made, here's the problem:

I'm building a 1/24 car with a white body scheme, but which has chrome accents here and there (gas cap, hood tie-downs, headlight rims, etc.), and I've already painted the body with acrylics.

I don't want to use a baremetal foil, as there are too many contours to cover. I'd like to use a chrome paint, such as Alclad, but Alclad is lacquer-based, right? That is, it will eat into the acrylic?

Any suggestions on circumventing/overcoming this obstacle?

Thanks,

Randall
