Alclad or similar over acrylic?

One thing you might try is some SnJ-type polishing powder. I just started experimenting for a model that I want to use it on and it looks fantastic. What you do is spray a basecoat and let it dry for an hour or two (enamels), I'm not sure how long for acrylics, and then just take a Q-Tip or something like that and rub this powder into the paint. You can buff it to a nice shine and once the paint dries completely it doesn't even need to be sealed. That's the only suggestion that I can think of right now, although if it was me, I'd try Bare-Metal Foil.
