Wanting a new airbrush
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 21, 2005 7:02 AM
I am currently wanting a new airbrush. I currently have the Aztek A4308. It isn't easy to use or clean. It may do fine lines well, but not large jobs which is all I mostly use it for. I am looking for a single action airbrush that can do large work well, but also fine lines. I would love to have one that can siphon from the front to make cleaning work easy.

I'm thinking about getting this one:

Check out bearair.com. You can get a higher quality airbrush for the same price or cheaper than the one you're looking at. I just picked up the Badger Crescendo set(double action) for around $62 + shipping. Check it out, you may find something else you'd like bettter.Smile [:)]

I agree with JH, I think something like the Badger 175 might fit your needs better. The 155 and 360 do well also... The only problem with the 350 is it is external mix.single action and your detail work would suffer because of it. Well I take that back... it would be much harder to obtain detail from it.. If ease of cleanup is a big concern then something like the Omni4000 or the Iwata HP-CR are both good brushes. I have the 175, 155 and just picked up the Iwata HP-CR and am amazed at how fast clean ups are.

Both the site he mentioned and www.dixieart.com are quality sites and will handle your needs well. Let us know what you decide on! and Good Luck!!!

The Badger 155 is siphon feed and is very easy to clean.. I have the badger 360 version which also allows gravity feed along with siphon feed but is basicly the same as the 155 and my cleanup after use is about 4 or 5 mins'.. unless i'm using acrylics then I give it a bit more cleaning.......

Also look at the Badger 150 pro http://www.dickblick.com/zz250/02b/ . It's a little more money, but a lot more AB. I was given an old one which needed more replacement parts than it was worth, so I picked up a new one last Friday. Very sweet! The double action gives you an impressive amount of control OOB and I'm an airbrush newbie. I've yet to touch paint to a model (which one do I ruin first? LOL) but I can already spray pencil thin lines, small dots and sign my name!

edit By a lot more AB, I mean than the 350, I looked very hard at the 155, but decided on the 150 as I had already bought a new needle, tip and head for the used one... The 155 is a very nice model! /edit

So long folks!

internal mix is the way to go

I've had a Paasche H, very similar to the 350, until recently when I got a Badger 100. External mix looks very simple but for me, it was much more of a pain to clean compared to gravity fed internal mix.

If you truly want a single action brush then I have had great results with my Badger 200. I have recently also bought their double action 150 professional as recommended by Bgrigg and whilst I haven't used it in anger yet I think the thickness of line produced with the medium needle won't be much if any thinner than that that I can achieve with the 200. The ability to turn paint flow on and off is I feel where the advantage will be for detail work with the 150 and then there is the fine needle/head assembly to try! I don't see the 150 as a replacement for the 200 however - it is a great brush in its own right.
P.S my 200 is now called 200NH
