Posted by Anonymous on Friday, August 26, 2005 6:11 AM
hi there folks...
just wondering if someone can please let me know how to connect the moisture trap to the hose of my badger 150 airbrush. do I have to cut the hose and then get special metal adapters that crimp back on to the hose?...that seems like a lot of work and I don't want to compromise the presssure in any way. please adcise.
Thanks in advance :o)

I'm not really sure about your setup, but the trap usually goes onto the compressor directly (I needed an adapter, but that's all). The tube connects to the trap itself.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] my trap goes straight on the compressor and the braided hose (Badger) screws on with no adaptor needed.

Stef...

If you're talking about an "in-line" moisture trap, then you will have to cut the braided air hose and fit it in. I have one from Paasche. The two ends of the trap fits very tightly into the airbrush's airhose so I didn't even have to put on the two locking screws. Also, be sure to put it in as close to the airbrush end as possible.

I live on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and it is very humid so I have a moisture trap at the end of the compressor but still need an inline one. Even then, during the dryer winter months when working outdoors, I still see water condensing in the inline trap. That's why I built a spray booth recently to move my painting indoors.

so then I don't need a moisture trap on the north east coast if I have a spray booth?

Maybe, maybe not. If you already have it, it certainly won't hurt to hook it up. I live in the Okanagan Valley, with is very, very dry and the guys I know with ABs don't use one.

So long folks!

thanks so much guys. upon closer looks at the trap I realized that I can just cut the hose in two and stick the ends opf the trap in both hose ends. the trap ends are textured like threads so that the hose will go on it and it won't come out. kinda like fish hook technology, and are long too. did it and it's all good. no loss of pressure or anything. so I'm all set guys (and girls) thanks a million.
