This sounds like a problem that Mr. Surfacer 1200 can solve:

I dilute it 30% with laquer thinner and airbrush it on and it's completely eliminated the peeling issue for me!

Good luck!

A friend & I have had the same problem. Sometimes everything goes alright, then you get one that peels. My friend was working on a Haswega(sp) Hurricane, & I was doing the Tamiya F-4U Corsair, when the paint peeled off the prop. My friend had to do the entire camo scheme again.

typically I prime the entire fuselage, and use either Krylon primer or the auto type. They have a good bite to the plastic and provide a good surface for the acrylic as well. Model Master also makes an enamel primer that works well but for me it didn't go on as smooth as the commercial types.

Also I have noticed that if I don't use light coats of Tamiya until covered it tends not to adhere as well (i.e. I spray it on too thick)

Good luck to ya!

What are you using as a thinner? I've been using Tamiya Acrylics for years and I've never had peeling problems like that. Very strange...

might wanna try auto primers (Krylon). they bite into the plastic pretty well AND provide a good bite for colors. hope this helps

Tamiya Acrylics peeling from plastic...

Hello all,

I am working on a model and I have been slightly annoyed to vey annoyed that the paint seems to peel off from the plastic very very easily. I noticed this also on areas where I primered first. Is it something that I am doing wrong.

I am making sure all of the surfaces are clean before I airbrush and I also am letting the pieces dry on the order of 2+ days. It has made masking almost impossible.

Thank you for your help,
-Jason
