Well, as you mention this article I read two days ago because it comes with delay here, I would like to ask something to Mr Usher, as I did not catch it : you show a piece of cardboard with a round hole, but it is obvious that the green blotches are not all roughly round, so my question is : you mention you change the cardboard mask now and then, but do you still make a round hole or ...
Apart from this, thank you for the article and for the one on resin casting.

Thank you all for coming José

Matthew, I thought that was a great article. Along with the Resin casting article you did a few months back, these have to go on my list of top articles featured this year. Detailed, step-by-step with lots of pics.

I haven't read the article yet, but it sounds like I need to! Has it hit newstands yet?

Yes it was a pretty good article and using freehand masks like that is an old trick, but it works great for semi-soft-edged camo paint schemes.

This is sad, I'm replying to my own thread. Anyway I just picked up the issue and really liked the article by Matt Usher. It reminded me of a technique I had forgotten about. Now I want to use it again.

For those who don't have the issue. The short version: It was simply camo masking with freehand shields. Holding the masking shield (with an irregular hole in it) a centimeter or so off the surface.

Anybody else got it, other thoughts???

October FSM - camo "tricks" article

Not trying to sell mags but I just saw the ad for the Oct FSM and the camo "tricks" article. I always like it when they do a painting feature. Is it out yet?? I think this is one I might get.

I don't really like that they call them "tricks" but I know it makes a big impression on a mag cover. I would rather call them "methods" or "techniques". Most of the camo "methods" I have learned right in here anyway. I know I'm being a critical before I even read it but I do still look forward to reading. Might even learn something new ... hopefully Smile [:)]
