Sounds like a couple of problems or combination there of.

A. One coat of paint is not completly dry (cured) when next coat is applied.
B. Putty is applied too thickly or is not completly dry when painted.

Although paint is dry to the touch within a few minutes, it can take up to 48 hrs to completly dry. Basic test is to smell the paint - if you still smell paint fumes, it hasn't cured yet.

Putty will shrink while drying and like paint takes some time to cure. If you sand it before it's cured, it will continue to shrink, causing sinkage and cracking. If you apply several thin coats, they will cure faster with far less shrinkage/cracking than one thick coat of putty. Just take your time and don't get into a hurry.

Yes, I use a can, and cleaned it.

I have removed all the paint and re-washed it. I was also using spackling past, so I went and got some Tamiya Epoxy putty (Smooth Surface) TA 87052, so hopefully it will go better this time.

Anthony-did you use an AB or rattle can? Also, did you clean and degrease before painting?

hmmm probably too thick. Thats not the way it's supposed to be done. you're supposed to prime it, then sand your putty smooth in problem spots then prime again, and repeat until you have sanded it properly. NOT just keep adding thick coats of priemr until it disappears.

Hi guys, I primed my Avro Arrow, I layed more coats until my putty was no longer able to be seen, but now I have bubbles in the paint, and some minor cracks. I use Model Master blue (I have no idea why) Should I take varsel and remove the paint? What should I do?

Thanks, Anthony.
