Emergency help with Humbrol paints....
Posted by Awood23 on Saturday, September 3, 2005 12:49 PM
Hey guys,

I have a problem that I hope someone here has an awnser to. My ever loving daughter, who will be up for auction here on ebay shortly, managed to get into my wifes mustang and open a present my wife had for me. This present included every thing you need to complete a model... glue, paint brushes, paints... Well my daughter decided to decorate the interior of the Mustang with black and red paint. Now Ive managed to get the paint off everything except the upholstery. Im guessing that is a complete loss and short of redying the seat or reupolstering them Im going to have to contend with red paint splattered over dark gray seats.... Unless someone here has a magic trick up thier sleave that they'd be willing to share. Id be most greatfull. (and so will my daughter)Angry [:(!]

Seat covers! Get Zebra striped ones, they look cool and will add at least 20 more "horses"! LOL. Levity aside, I'm afraid you might need to replace or re-dye, especially if it's enamels.

My son (who is now 14 and due for his Evilbay debut), wanted to help one time with washing the car when he was about the same age as your girl. I thought it would be safe to leave him on the inside with a dust rag. Worked pretty good, right up until he snapped off the turn signal stalk! That was a $130 part and 2 hours labor to replace. Sigh.

Ain't kids FUN? Propeller [8-]

So long folks!

Our daughter is due in Dec, your scaring me!
Not sure if it will work, or what it will do to the cloth, but maybe try oven cleaner? it won't hurt plastic, not sure about the dye in the cloth though.

Oh Vapo... this is just one chapter in a never ending book. Where I to tell you all the horor stories concerning my daughter you pray dailly and nightly for god to take it back Big Smile [:D]

But thats just the horor stories.... The good stuff that comes with being a parent outweighs "most" of the horor stories... Just get used to never sleeping again and you'll be fine. Smile [:)]

BTW, Thanks for the replies guys... gonna give some of them a try but I have a bad feeling its all going to be for naught and Im going to have to replace either the upholstery or the seats themselves. Thanks anyways.

I've been through the kid thing 3 times, and my wife 4, so we've had lots of practice.. and yes, there were times when they'd try your patience! But, now that they're older, we all survived it, somehow! My youngest is now 13, my wife's youngest is now 16. Actually, in another couple of years, we'll be down to NONE in the house, since my son lives with his mom. Can't say that I'm not looking forward to that! Woohoo, it'll be just the two of us!
