Badeger 200

I have a Badger 200 that was fairly neglected, so I soaked it in thinner and cleaned it up as best I could. I bought a new needle and a med head. When I use it I get a steady a flow but the paint flow is interrupted about every half second. I can actually feel the thing pulsing. Any ideas what the problem is ?
Thx,
Mog

Should I be able to see or remove part # 50-046? I dont see it in my airbrush.

That is likely the culprit! I have an old Badger 150 with a missing teflon washer (same location) and it pulses too.

So long folks!

Before you start stripping your AB, and if memory serves me the teflon washer is a factory removal only, what air source are you using?

Diapragm compressors are well known for pulsing. Does your comp have a holding tank?

The Badger 200 has been changed in recent years. That diagram is for the "New" style, and part number 50-046 is the needle bearing not the head washer. It is not user replaceable. Here is the parts list for the "Old Style" 200:

and the culprit is probably part number 50-055 which is a Teflon head washer that tends to flatten over time and cause pulsations and leaks.

Actaually I replaced the head or tip assembly with 50-0162 which includes the washer 50-055 and a new needle yesterday. The air is from a 6np compressor. I can hear and feel that the air is staedy, and it is the paint that is pulsating leading me to believe that there is a piece of crud in there somewhere, but Ive cleaned the heck out of it, so I dont know....

I would disassemble it and soak it in laquer thinner overnight. Take the air valve out and do NOT soak that in laquer thinner. There is an o-ring in it that might be ruined.

If you can get some good pressure from your compressor, after it has soaked blow out the air passages thoroughly with compressed air.

Also, make sure the head is tight. Not just finger tight, but pretty solid. Before you store the airbrush loosen the head. That will prevent that Teflon washer from getting flattened so quickly. In most cases that washer not sealing properly is what causes pulsations in the airflow.
