What's the difference??

Rich, I use an Omni 4000 for general area coverage, but a Badger 100SG with fine head for detail work.

Not sure exactly how the 100 compares with the equivalent Iwata, but I have had excellent results practically straight out of the box.

As it is a German product, you can get it on German e-shops but also on ebay Germany, and on a Belgian shop named Ideefiks ( http://www.obeeliks.com ) where you will be welcome and get good advice; they sell abroad, and I know that several chaps around here dealt with them with great satisfaction. I looked at the site of H & S and it seems that they have no US/Canada representative ( http://www.harder-airbrush.de ) . A little point : if you decide to get one, get also a hose ( or at least an adapter ) as they are mounted with quick connect and not with specific hose connections.

Never heard of Harder and Steenbeck until today. Their stuff looks nice, but it appears it isn't sold in Canada (or the U.S.).

If you are going to choose a HP and money is not a problem, take a look at the HP CH with MAC air valve which is not a gadget. As it is set in .30 mm, modelling paints are not a problem. As for thin lines, Harder & Steenbek Evolutions from Germany are great alternatives to American or Japanese products.

Rich - for really fine lines a Badger 100LG with a fine needle/nozzle combo would give you similar results to the HP-CS.

The 100LG has the advantage of price, the HP-CS has the advantage of covering a little bit broader range of painting scenarios. (i.e. can be used for fine detail and moderate coverage without swapping needles.) If you bought the medium needle/nozzle combo for the 100 you would be able to do both as well with that airbrush.

Mike: I agree on the HP-CS for general painting. Actually I'm a Badger guy (I own 2 Badgers and an Omni6000), but I am really curious about Iwata brushes. I have never actually used one so my curiousity is killing me. I want a brush that will give me really thin lines for highlighting panel lines on 1/48 scale WWII aircraft, and so on. Really fine detail. I've experimented with my Omni endlessly and can't get the results I want (I'm NO artist - the brush has to have the capability).
I know you're a Badger guy too, and I know it's partly the tool and partly the user, but what would you recommend from Badger? Do they have an equivalent?

I personally wouldn't buy any of those for modeling.
I would go with the HP-CS and save some money.
