Parts for Badger Airbrush 100GF
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 15, 2005 1:02 PM
I know absolutely nothing about airbrushes. I recently purchased and sent an airbrush to my sister, who lives in Venezuela. I purchased the Badger 100GF, which came with a fine head assembly. I am not sure if it came with the needle, but I am assuming that it did. It is very difficult to get items from the US to Venezuela, so I am trying to take advantage of an opportunity to send her something. I noticed that this airbrush can also use a medium as well as a large head assembly, so I would like to get her one. She woudl be using the airbrush for fingernails and t-shirts.

I have a few questions:

1. Since I am only going to purchase one, should I get the medium or large? What is the difference?

2. What specifically do I need to purchase in order for her to use it with the airbrush? I was told that I need a needle, nozzle and head assembly, but I can't seem to find the three items online. I see the needle and head assembly, but I do not see any nozzle. I saw a site that advertised a complete head assembly, does that mean that it contains the nozzle?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to purchase the items ASAP and I am clueless.

Thanks in advance.

Here is a parts list for the 100G:
http://www.badgerairbrush.com/100gparts.htm
You can see that the entire head assembly (50-0381, 50-0382, 50-0383) is the entire head assembly and it does include the nozzle as well as the spray regulator. The nozzles on that airbrush are very tiny and not that easy to replace by themselves. The complete head assembly and the needle is all that is necessary to change among fine, medium, and large.

As I recall from the instructions for my 100LG the large nozzle puts out about 4 times the volume of paint as the fine nozzle. The medium is, presumably, somewhere in between. For modeling I usually use the fine or medium head, and for fingernails she would most certainly need the fine. For t-shirts, I'm not certain but my guess would be the large. I have one and it puts out a LOT of paint.

A good place to order parts for them is DixieArt (www.dixieart.com) but they are in New Orleans. They are open but may be having trouble getting shipments out, I'm not certain. Another good place would be Bear Air (www.bearair.com)

you might also try www.webairbrushes.com for Badger parts. Their website is a little harder to navigate, but you can find the parts there if you look a while, and from what I saw their shipping charges are fairly reasonable. Dixieart did appear to have the best pricing on the parts, but right now they're drop shipping everything from their suppliers, and the last time I looked at their website they were asking that you not place less than a 45 dollar minimum order from any one supplier (Badger, Paasche, Iwata, etc..) not a problem if you're ordering a whole airbrush, but for a couple of parts, you might be aware of that.

To expand on the post above, I'd be tempted to order the complete head/tip/aircap assembly, and the appropriate needle. I think I'd start with the medium tip / needle combo, let your sister see if she likes that.

50-0162 is the complete head assembly, 50-0402 is the matching needle that she'll need.

If you decide on the large, it's the 50-0163 head / 50-0403 needle.

Good luck!
