I bought a new airbrush yesterday aloing with an 1/4" hose. After a bout 30 seconds of airbrushing the end pops out of the compresser. I have to wait a minute for it to cool off every time it pops out too. How can I fix this problem?Question [?]

Oddy-sounds like a bad fitting-I'd ask for a new hose (no pun intended).

Are you relying on friction fit? I use hose clamps.

So long folks!

That's what I was wondering... what type of hose is being used. Mine all have 1/4" threaded brass couplers at the end. If it is the type to slip over a nipple then yeah hose clamps would be the ticket.

Well, it does have a threaded brass coupler at the end. I think i'll try hose clamps and see what happens. ( I'm new to all this stuff)

Wait a sec, I have another idea. I got a very, I mean VERY, crudy airbrush with the compreeser I bought. The end is compaddeble with the compresser and works fine, but the other end is attached to the airbrush with super glue. Do you think if i cut the end off of this hose aand attached it to the end of the other hose with masking tape,(air tight), it might work? I i'm worried about back pressure causing a big bang. I have no intention of making my house go boom, so please help!Angel [angel]

Nope. Masking tape, or any other kind of tape (with the possible exception of vinyl electrical tape and I have doubts about that), will not work. It will never be air tight. Unless you are running an awful lot of pressure the worst that will happen is that the hose will pop loose, but it is going to leak.

What you might be able to do is get a piece of brass tubing the same size as the inside of the hose, put the two cut hose ends over it, and then put two hose clamps over the ends to seal the splice.

Of course, you could also just get a good-quality hose and be done with it.

what kind of airbrush are you using? I think Scott's idea might be the most logical... quick fixes usually last about as long as it takes you to do apply them...

Let me guess, you have the Testors blue compressor right?

If you do, I had the same problem.

Solution: I sold it.

if it is the blue ice I concur... for less than you payed for it you can get a compressor at Wal Mart or Lowes for less money and 50 times the capability...

I'll think i'll try music city's idea if that doesn't work, then i'll just ry to find a better hose. If I can't find one then i'll just sell the thing and buy a better compresser. Everyone is happy, right?Thumbs Up [tup]
