painting very fine PE mesh
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 12:21 AM
I'm building Dragons's excellent 1/72 T-34, and I have problem with the mesh covering the engine. No matter how low pressure I use, how delicately I try to mist it, the paint always clogs the mesh up. What should I do? Remove the paint and drybrush-it?

How about trying higher pressure, thinner paint, and quickly shooting it? If you're lighty misting it, I suspect that at a microscopic level, the paint drops are significantly drying by the time they get to the mesh and thus sort of build up. I'm thinking if you can lay down a light, wet coat of fairly thinned paint on the PE mesh, the solvent will evaporate away, leaving a nice thin layer of paint on the PE without clogging the mesh.

also, you can spray it, then hit it with just air from your AB which should remove the clogging.
