Future to old?
Posted by stindle on Monday, September 26, 2005 10:19 AM
I have 2 spray bottles that hold future, and that I use in my airbrush.

Last night I went to future a car my daughter had finished painting and I noticed that the Future in the bottle was not spraying at the presure that I normal shoot it. So I thinned it down with water, and still had a problem shooting it. I finally turned up the presure to about 15 lbs from around 9 lbs and it shot ok then. ( The Car was looking show room shin this am when I got up.
The problem is I went to shot the future coat on a NMF B-25 that I am getting ready to weather and the future just beaded up on it. I ended up stripping it off.

The thing is just what do you use to thin Future?
And has future have a shelf life after you open it?

Thanks

I usually don't thin Future, although I do thin Future that has been flattened with Tamiya's flat base. I always have used Tamiya's acrylic thinner. As far as shelf life, I have a large bottle that I first opened a few years ago and have noticed no change or deterioration with it.

I've also used Tamiyas acrylic thinner with GREAT success, a lot smoother finishes in the end since I tried it... I am usually able to get a true gloss coat in one maybe two passes...

one thing to note... I noticed sometimes I get a foggy look to the future when I first put it on... it goes away when dry though, I imagine it has something to do with the Tamiya thinner..
