Advice for newbie

The 150 is a very good airbrush, although I personally prefer gravity feed over siphon feed. I don't know what comes in the "Set" so that's kind of up to you. You will need at least the brush, a bottle or two, and a hose. Most people tend to prefer the medium head on the 100/150 airbrushes.

Sorry my mistake - the "set" I found for $69.95 includes "Badger 150 airbrush; all 3 tips spray regulators and needles (F, M, & L); 6 ft braided air hose; 3/4 oz. jar w/ adapter; 2 oz. paint jar; 1/4 oz. metal color cup; and protective cap".

I understand the difference between the gravity and siphon feed, but why do you feel gravity is preferable?

Glad you found the info on my site useful. I prefer gravity feed because you can spray at slightly (emphasis on "Slightly") lower pressures, and it wastes slightly less paint.

The 100 and 150 are basically the same brush except that the 100 is gravity feed and the 150 is siphon feed. The same tips and needles work on both. Either would be a good choice, and would do anything you want to do.

I have a 100LG and do have all three tips for it. The large tip sprays a LOT of paint and I seldom use it. The medium and fine work quite well, but I have to get the paint pretty thin to use the fine tip. Even then some metallics don't spray well through that tip.

Most people do prefer the braided hose, but I like the thin vinyl hose better. Personal choice. I have both but the braided hose gets in my way more than the vinyl hose does so I normally use the vinyl hose.

If you go with the 100 bottles won't be an issue, but the big bottle is not much use. I have one that came with a Badger 200 I got about 15 years ago and I don't think I've ever used it. Tamiya bottles screw onto the Badger adapters, but they are shorter so the tube has to be trimmed.

If I had a buck for every piece of software that WON'T run under Windows XP I'd be a wealthy man. I DETEST Windows XP (does "XP" stand for Xtra Problems?)

I can't remember the exact way to get there (Windows XP at work, Windows ME at home) but if you go through [START] / Programs / Administrative Tools / Compatibility Wizard (or something like that) it will walk you through a sequence of commands that will eventually let you tell XP what version of Windows an application worked properly under. Tell it that the tank software worked right under Windows 95 (or 98) and maybe, MAYBE it will work under XP. Never tried it myself, but that has helped some on other software that ran properly until I "Upgraded" the OS.
