Testors compressors?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 10:07 PM
I have a home-made spray box, I have an Aztek airbrush, and now I'm looking for an air compressor. I know the hardware-store models are pretty popular, but they don't exactly fit my needs. I noticed that Testors offers a couple compressors made specifically for modelers. One of them, the AC700, actually looks pretty nice. Anybody here have experience with this model? How good is it in reality?

I have the mini-Ice blue one............if that is what your refering 2............i love the little thing. I have also an Aztek airbrush and i can swear by it..........the compressor (ice-blue) one you can get at ACMoore, or Michaels for $50 with a %50 coupon they give u in the paper. Never had any problems.....works beuitifully......and its a constant pressure, so you u consistent results.

Hope this helps.

Andy - that AC700 will work fine... it looks like all you would need would be a moisture trap.. you might look at the AC100 too, I saw it on Testors site and it looks like it would be a bit more capable and perhaps durable... it was only about $50 more I think...

I've heard good things about them-- your airbrush isn't an airhog, so you should be fine. I use a Paasche VL and they take a bit more pressure-- these things aren't quite strong enough. But if I would have went for a Badger or an Iwata, I think they would have worked nicely. I have seen lots of quality models airbrushed by people using the setup you're considering. If you can get it $50 because of a coupon-- great!
