That is more pressure than you will need for airbrushing models, as long as it can maintain that pressure under flow. Sometimes the "Maximum" pressure ratings are with zero air flow. As soon as the air starts to flow the pressure drops. An airbrush will typically use around 0.25 to 0.5 cfm of air, which is not a whole lot, so see if there is a spec that shows the pressure at various volumes of air flow.

As jsalemi mentioned, for most modeling purposes you will seldom need more than 20 psi. The only time I use a higher pressure is for cleaning my airbrush, and I usually run the pressure up to around 50 psi for that.

That's way more you'll need. Most recommendations for model airbrushing are for between 15 - 25 psi depending on the paint, maybe 30 psi tops for really thick stuff.

40-50psi is one particular brands max, it runs on a continuous low. I am just not sure if this is a bad thing. It is a commercial duty Thomas compressor, not made specifically for airbrushes but I suppose is compatible because I think that a braided hose can be screwed on.
