Painting With Nail Polish
Posted by PHATBOB58 on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 1:28 PM
I've seen automotive subjects that indicate they were painted using nail polish. There is an abundance of nail polish colors on the market that would be great for painting replicas of cars seen on the streets these days. What is the best tecnique for using nail polish as a finish? Can they be thinned or used through an airbrush?

Use Duplicolor or some other automotive primer. Thin the polish with laquer thinner 50-50. Nail polish is usually somewhat translucent, so it will take a number of coats to build up color. Good luck.
