Castrol Super Clean
Posted by Armada on Saturday, October 15, 2005 7:20 PM
Castrol Super Clean has been mentioned in the forum as a means of stripping enamel paint off without harming the plastic. I visited the local Wal-Mart and a couple of auto part stores but could not find any. Is the product still made and whereabouts can it be located? Thanks.

if you are like me and live in a place where they do not sell CSC(i have to order it), just go to the local hardware. They sell Engine Degreasers, which what CSC is.there is a ED like CSC, it's brand is turtlewax.comes in even the same color. just dip it in.
i buy an engine degreaser called STP(Spray can). i've also tried Castite. i just place the model inside a container where it can "dip" it in the degreaser.
Just remember to protect yourself ..gloves,mask,goggles..etc
Hope this helps! Happy modeling

Brake fluid is also very effective and will not cause any damage to plastic. Be careful that you don't get any on your skin!

I've heard that a degreaser called Simple Green works just as well, but I haven't tried it.

In Canada, I buy CSC at NAPA.

Simple Green does work just as well... so does Tilex mold and scum remover... I am not sure why CSC is dissapearing from shelves like this but it kinda worries me... maybe I will stick to the others until I found out why...
