What sealer over Future?

Try either PollyScale clear flat or Testors Model Master ACRYL Clear Flat (make sure it's the "Acryl" kind). You can also mix Tamiya XF-21 Flat Base with Future. The advantage of that is that you can control the amount of matte finish by varying the proportion of XF-21. About 4:1 Future:XF-21 is dead flat. About 6:1 Future:XF-21 is semi-gloss. All of these are acrylic and won't bother the Future.

Not much seems to bother Future except for ammonia. I sprayed Humbrol's flat coat over Future and it went on beautifully. No reactions from either product.

Also, you may want to check out any of the acrylic varnishes made by Windsor & Newton, Liquitex or Golden (the three major artist acrylic makers). They should be available at an art supply store. They may seem a little pricey, but drop for drop they are much, much cheaper than the hobby paint brands that come in tiny bottles. You can also mix them with future to get a variety of finishes from gloss to matte.

Also, I don't believe the tamiya flat base is meant to be used as a dull coat on it's own. I've heard of it clouding if sprayed on directly. As MusicCity outlined, you can mix it with future.

Nathaniel is absolutely right. DO NOT spray Tamiya XF-21 alone! It is not meant to be used by itself, all you 'll get is a chalky-looking mess.

If you are used to Vallejo, their brand of flat is quite good as well. I use the "Color of eagles" branded Vallejo paints and was quite happy with the results on their clear flat.

I picked up some Flat Base today and I'll try it out soon as I get a chance. Mixed with Future of course! Don't need no cloudy paint jobs.

And 9900, I thought about the Vallejo flat but from what I hear it's not quite as tough as Dullcote. And I'm looking for as tough a finish as I can get since my minis are both my gaming and display minis.

What kind of luck has anyone had with having a batch of premixed Future/Flat Base, or any kind of mixture? Do they get funky after a while or does it just depend on the things being mixed? Or is it just better to mix in the airbrush?
