Knew I should never have joined a forum

So, For some bizzar reason, I'm looking through the coupons the wife is cutting out, when I come across a %40 off one item for michaels.
Long story short I now have a Badger 155 Anthem Approve [^]

Now, while I have no doubt it's going to serve me very well, in terms of quality and use I see no differance so far between it and my Airbrush city 1620

Those who are AB snobs, I would gladly offer you my airbrush city 1620 to try out, before the flames start licking at my backside! Wink [;)]

Both are all metal dual action brushes, both are equal in terms of spray ability from what I can see so far.
Only differance? $40 in the pocket, no I don't work for them,lol, in fact if you read my earlier posts I only got the 1620 because the customer service was so bad, they gave me a free upgrade to compensate for the trouble I had, which kinda suggests customer service is pretty good I guess Shy [8)]

So, anyone tried both brushes? lets have your thoughts. I may end up selling the Anthem(it's only had water through it to test) if I can't discover a reason to keep it.

LOL The Anthem will be the better brush in the long run. After all it comes with a lifetime warrenty on labour and seal. The Airbrush City brush appears to be a private label Badger or copy of the 150 with a different handle end. The Anthem has the more comfortable trigger mechanism and the easily adjustable needle.

I'd try it with paint before you make your final decision. I'd take it off your hands if I didn't already own two dual action siphon feed ABs. My next AB will be a gravity fed.

I don't own the Airbrush City brush but do own an Anthem and for awhile now it has been my main brush with a Badger 175 as backup for certain acrylics and large area work.

The 155 was a great brush.... lot's of good things about it... VERY easy to clean. Most of the time 1 or 2 min is all I needed. Decent fine detail unless I was using acrylics. That was not the brushes fault though.. partly mine and partly the type of paint...

Since then my Iwata HP-CR has replaced the 155 and the 175 is still my trusty backup.... but that 155 was an exceptional brush until I went gravity fed...

Try it out some more and see how it does for you... not sure of the needle/nozzle size on the other one you have but the Anthem is a really good brush overall.. (p.s. I only used the metal color cup for most painting, rarely did I use the bottle except for large models with overall coverage)

So basically, you're saying that the forum badgered you into buying a new Badger? Big Smile [:D] My advice to anyone is always to stay with what you have until it breaks or that you're certain your airbrushing skill and needs do in fact exceed the capability of your airbrush.

I have the 200NH which is a single action derivative of the 155 and would paint the same for a give needle position. It is indeed a fine airbrush. It naturally lays down a nice, smooth coat of paint. If you have need of wide coverage, it can easily handle anything in reason. I don't know if it has the tightest fine line capability, but anything larger than Luftwaffe "worm" camouflage in 1/72 should be in reach.

As far as dumping the Badger, unless you can get a full refund or are really cash strapped, you may as well keep it. If your other airbrush ever conks out you'll already have a spare, and there may be times when having an extra AB will be handy.

true,true, my post was more in jest, but they are essentially the same brush I think, if anything, now that I've put some paint through the 155, the airbrush city one is a little better put together in terms of the paint pots and such. The Badger push in tube is a little too loose for comfort.

I found on my 155 that if I twist the paint pot as I insert it, it goes in a lot better...

Same here, try putting the bottle in a good 90 degrees off axis and twist it into position. It snugs right up.

do you have the new one piece affair? the new Badger one I have has just a piece of PVC pipe sticking out the jar, the air brush city one is metal and seems to mate up better, but on the plus side they fit the badger brush, so maybe it's the best of both worlds,lol

Oh ick, I have one of those. It is to laugh! Ha ha!

Luckily I have many metal connectors so I don't have to suffer the idignity of the new plastic junk. I do have a white plastic connector that is two piece, and that works just fine.

sadly a lot of the airbush manufacturers are going with the plastic pipe.. Iwata already did.. even though I like the Iwata airbrush I got better than my 2 badgers I am glad I got the gravity fed becase that plastic tube is one more thing for me to break!! Wink [;)]
