Silentair scorpion air compressor
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, November 12, 2005 2:03 PM

Hello all.

Does anyone know anything about the Silentair Scorpion air compressor?  By what I have read the compressor is set to run at 40 psi, and has some sort of an electronic regulator or somethig. My question is, can another regulator be added to the compressor to regulate down to 15-20 psi for airbrushing, and will this compressor be sufficient for my Badger 155? Thanks

Brian.

Hello Brian,

I have the same set up and yes you can add a different regulator.  I bought a regulator made by Badger.  So far the compressor has been very sufficient for me and my trusty 155.  Tongue [:P]

scorpion 1: Best Uses : Finger Nail Art , Fine Art , Models , Illustration where low Viscosity paints are used . Temp Tattoo's , Body art , tanning depending on Tanning Solution you use .

scorpion 2: Best Uses : Finger Nail Art , Fine Art , Models , Illustration , basic T-Shirt art ( non-production type ) , helmets, auto art , Temp Tattoo's , Body art , tanning depending on Tanning Solution you use .

at http://www.dixieart.com it says max operating pressure for the scorpion 1 is 20 psi and for the scorpion 2 it's 45 psi. at another site it says 40 psi at shutoff for scorpion1 and 55 for scorpion 2. i'm guessing max operating pressure is the more meaningful figure. i was going to buy a scorpion 1 until my wife mentioned she wanted to airbrush t-shirts. it was going to cost me $95 at hobby lobby's 40% off, instead i bought a craftsman 3 gallon for $99 at sears.

Ditto that,

I am have a Scorp. I and am using a 155.  You will just need to by a regulator to be able to adjust the pressure.
