Inconsistent airflow???
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 11:30 AM
Hi, I have a Paasche VL airbrush that I use with a Husky all purpose aircompressor. This aircompressor was not made for airbrushes specifically, but it comes with a regulator so you can adjust the PSI. Well, anyway, I've been having some problems for some time now. Everytime I paint a straight line (or any line for that matter) it paints a straight line then it stops and spurts out a blob of paint then it paints straight then a blob, etc. So the outcome looks something like this: ----o----o----o. This is unacceptable, and I've tried just about everything to fix it. I have cleaned the airbrush inside and out, I have tried different types of paint, I have used different paint to thinner ratios. I have also tried painting with different PSI's and still get the same effects. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a problem like this or if they could help me. Thanks!

Josh, It sounds like your paint is either not thin enough or not mixed well enough and you're getting lumps of pigment in the mix. To be sure you can try straining your paint through an old piece of nylon stocking or panty hose when loading your airbrush. You can also add a copper BB or 2 in to your paint jar and shake vigorously to mix before hand to help mix the pigments.

Give it a shot and see what happens.
