Quiet Aircompressors
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, November 26, 2005 7:09 AM
What are some good suggestions for quiet aircompressors? I am in an apartment know and sound travels pretty well. I was looking for something that would be at or lower sound level then say a washer and dryer.

Thx - i saw other topics about compressors but wanted to narrow it down a bit for my needs.

I have a Badger 180-1 and it is reasonably quiet, probably quieter than my washer but maybe only the same as my dryer.  It certainly would not be considered as being silent.  For dead silence, you could use a refillable tank.

Okay, I'll throw my $0.02 in here.  My personal prefernce is for the 20lb CO2 tank that I'm now using.  It's silent and gives me great finishes.  Totally adjustable PSI with the right regulator and cheap to fill.  If noise is an issue (as it is for me as well...I live in an apartment but work in our garage, which is still very close to the building) then I'd recommend this route.

I like the Badger Million-Air but it is a little pricey.
Should last you the rest of your life though.
