So I understand what it is, but is it used for lubricating moving metal parts and is in necasary (i hate it when I forget how to spell simple wurdz!) Is my A/B getting years cut off its life because I'm not using it? Thanks gentlemen!

Yes it is used for lubricating moving metal parts. I consider it necessary. The part that wears will be the needle, so you will eventually experience degradation of quality. A bottle goes for around $5, so the next time you order something online, see if the store carries it. That bottle will last you a very long time as a little dab will do ya.

I've heard it's basically glycerin which can be bought at the local pharmacy. You don't want to use 3'n1 or sewing machine lube as that can end up in your paint job.

Simple answer is with your finger. Clown [:o)]

I use Medea Super Lube for one very major reason. My LHS stocked it!

I smear it on the front two thirds of the needle, and wipe the excess off on the mechanism at the back. I haven't actually busted my brush down for a major cleaning yet. I'll give all the moving bits a touch of the lube. It takes only a drip to cover the needle, don't use too much, it's just plain wasteful.

So long folks!

Just put the lube on the front half of the needle, anything beyond that is a waste of lube and can possibly cause the needle to slip in the needle chuck.

Thanks mike. Will Glycerine do? or is it wise to get the bottled AB Lube?
