I have a problem airbrushing this has been a constent problem since i got it over a year ago i can never seem to get a smooth flow it always seems to spurt with or without the airbrush on my compressor seems to spurt and i have a pasacahe mostioure trap in the middle of my line and to get any paint flow at all i have to open my brush all the way up max air and max width. I have used tamyia arcylics and moes masters with there own brands of thinners and i can never seem to get the correct flow.

I am using a whrillwind 2 comperssor but i have no means of changing air pressure and i am using a Badger 150 airbrush. I have been trying to figure this out for over a year now and would like to start finshing my kits.

WOW it's been a year... where to start and how to help??

First, make sure your airbrush is cleaned out. Tear it apart and give it a good cleaning.
Second, you NEED a pressure regulator to adjust the air pressure coming from the compressor to the airbrush. Once you have that hooked up and your airbrush is cleaned and back together.

Test your system by spraying just water through it with an air pressure of oh say 10 - 15 psi. It should spray out smooth. Then try adjusting and spraying at different air pressures (psi) by adjusting the air regulator.

Hopefully somebody here knows if the Whirlwind 2 compressor is up to handling the Badger 150... you know, matching cfm @ psi usage... ??

One would hope that the Badger Whirlwind 2 Compressor can handle one of Badger's more popular airbrushes. The Badger site doesn't list cfm specs, only up to 28 psi. Small diaphragm compressors will pulse a little bit due to the design.

I ditto the remarks on the pressure regulator, they aren't expensive if you go to a discount tool place. Should cost less than $10. You'll probably have to buy a male to male fitting and some teflon tape, so call it $15. Since you don't want to spray at full pressure the regulator will likely help with the pulsing. I used a similar compressor without any trouble. Well, at least trouble I could blame on the compressor and airbrush! Tongue [:P]

So long folks!

You might try hooking your A/B up to another compressor or airtank to see which one it is as well.
